The setting of the novel is the Bohemia, one of the most expensive, exclusive apartment buildings in New York and the world. We follow along with some of the tenants who live in the building, Emily who is married to Whit, they live in the penthouse, who is a billionaire, but has a secret about how he made all his money and she wants to leave him but can’t. Julian lives on the second floor and has issues of his own and they overlap with Whit. The main character of the novel is Chicky Diaz, the doorman, who has worked here for 28 years. He recently lost his wife, is in debt and got in a fight with the wrong men. On this night a big rally is taking place, a police officer killed a black man and a protest march is taking place. This evening all hell will break loose, secrets will be revealed and people will die. This is an awesome character-driven novel, that has a lot of moving parts that all come together as we follow along. With twists and turns and a great ending, readers will eat this one up.
