The follow-up to the first novel, The Doctor’s Wife, continues the story of Fern and her killing her Dr. husband, Drew, and framing his mistress, Alice, who is in prison. She also killed Alice’s husband, who helped her with the deed. Now a rich widow, she has purchased a big house and is living the good life, although plagued with nightmares about what she did. Alice has made one friend in prison, and is being targeted by the prison bully. Fern is dating Roger, and they have gotten close over the past few months, but he has a secret, and it could cost Fern everything, when she says too much, it changes her life. A good second novel which adds layers to the story, which will continue with three more books. At only 224 pages, it’s an easy read that will keep you glued to these characters and the story.
