Author Leonard Goldberg is back with his third book featuring Sherlock Holmes daughter Joanna Blalock and Dr. Watson and his son. This time they are on the trail of Alistair Ainsworth, one of England’s highest ranking military people, who has been kidnapped by the Germans in 1915 looking for the British game plan in regards to their subs.

When Joanna gets a visit late one night during a rain storm from Dr. Verner it sets off waves. His tells them about a visit to a mysterious house with mysterious people done very mysteriously. The patient he was told is sick and when he sees him the patient is able to tell him that he needs help. After Joanna and Watson here this tail they get on the case and with the help of the Yard they are on the case and figure out Ainsworth has been taken. They soon learn Dr. Verner has been killed and they always seem to be on step behind on finding the Germans. There’s a mold among them.

They keep investigation and Joanna, who has her father’s keen sense to deduce any little clue, no matter how small, could be the key to figuring out this case. They soon set their traps in a final effort to find Ainsworth and figure out who the mole is before it’s too late.

My first time reading one of these books and I love it. The characters are so well written. Joanna is smart and enjoyable to read. And having Dr. Watson by her side makes the story that much more enjoyable. Add in her son Johnny, who is like a chip off the old block of her and her father, and this series is in great hands for years to come. If you were/are a Sherlock Holmes fan, add this series as well.

You can pick up The Disappearance Of Alistair Ainsworth in stores on Tuesday, June 11th from Minotaur Books.
