Book Review: ‘The Devil You Know: A Hayley Chill Novel’ By Chris Hauty

After a so-so third book in the series, author Chris Hauty is back with his next exciting Hayley Chill novel. Hayley is going through a lot as the novel opens. Her sister and her best friend have recently died, she had a miscarriage, she quit her job at the deep-state secret organization she worked for, and she’s drinking way too much. When a Supreme Court Justice is murdered, and the other eight are put on high alert, she’s sucked back into the agency. She’s assigned to Hawaii to help guard one of them. When she lands, she hears about a school bus full of kids being kidnapped, and if the justice isn’t killed, the kids will be. She soon learns of the plot, and goes into Hayley mode, and is determined to save the justice, and the kids, even if it costs her own life. An action-pack novel that starts strong and never lets up, with some twists you don’t see coming. A great Memorial Day novel to read.
