Book number five in the Robin Lockwood series might be the best one yet. The action is set over two different cities and features two court cases and nobody writes these court scenes like author Phillip Margolin. Robin Lockwood is on top of the world right now. She just becamse engaged to the love of her live until a tragedy takes place during a trial of a rapist, a case she didn’t even want. While home in Elk Grove, Illinois with her family, she’s asked to assist on a case involving a Portland woman Marjorie Loman, whose husband was murdered and she might be a suspect. She has fled here looking to start her life over. She’s hired to be a surrogate for a couple but wants to keep the baby after he is born. She kidnaps the baby and holds the parents at gunpoing until she gets the kid. When she’s arrested Robin is asked to help with the case by Stan, a friend of her brothers. And on top of that Robin learns that know Marjorie is wanted for the murder of her husband. When one case ends another begins and Robin pulls out all the stops. Robin soon begins to doubt herself. Was she played or did she do the right thing? A final twist will reveal everything.
