Dr. Gwen Griffin has lost her reporter job in Dallas and is offered a job in Wales at a University, overhauling the journalism department. Originally from there, she will be returning home and reuniting with her best friend, Carolyn, who will be her boss. On her first night, a small party is put together for her to meet some of the staff, including Alice Rice, a professor nobody likes, and who feels she should have gotten the job. After some words are exchanged between the two, Gwen returns home, and Alice shows up at her door wanting to talk, and then drops dead. Gwen is questioned by Det. Gareth, and soon decides she is going to investigate the death herself. She starts to learn shocking things about Alice’s past, and is warned off from investigation, and soon finds out a man has been following her, and it may be too late for her to figure this case out. This is the debut novel in this new series, and it’s a good one. Gwen is a well-written, strong female, and there are a number of suspects who could have killed Alice. Another fun small-town murder mystery, with a lot of potential in future books.
