Kaitlin Goss is the CEO of StoicAI, home of LLIAM, the world’s biggest, most popular supercomputer. It is used by millions around the world, some asking him to make decisions for them. When he suddenly goes offline, everyone around the world panics, especially Kaitlin, who was set to announce a big deal with the US government. Then mysterious letters are mailed out to people with confessions from LLiam, exposing people’s secrets. Kaitlin needs to get him back online and figures one person can do this, Maud, the woman LLIAM considers his mother, who has a backup to the system. When she also receives a letter, she knows what she has to do and is waiting for Kaitlin to show up. It then becomes a game of cat and mouse between the two women, who both have secrets and a race against time to try and bring back LLIAM. This is an intense thriller, with quite a few twists and turns. It also makes you think about how this could be something real one day with the way technology is going. A great debut novel.
