Book Review: ‘The Christmas Spirit: A Novel’ By Debbie Macomber

Every year I look forward to Debbie Macomber’s Christmas novel, and she never disappoints. Her latest is a heart-warming story of friendship, love and the Christmas Spirit. Hank and Peter have been best friends most of their lives. And now in 1977 they decide to test each other. Hank owns a bar and is over-worked and never has time for a life. Pete is a pastor at a church not far from Hank, and hasn’t dated much either. They both think the other’s job isn’t that hard. So they decide to change jobs for the week leading up to Christmas. They both learn quickly that the other’s jobs and responsibilities are more than either imagined. We follow them along during the week, as they each learn new things, make new friends and each falls in love, leading up to a hilarious Christmas Eve pageant, with the most diverse group of people, including strippers and a gang of bikers. This book will put you in the holiday mood.
