David Carnswel has been protecting his property from visitors for years in order to stop the world from ending. He performs specific rites in order to do this. After he dies, his wife is in charge of the house and keeping these visitors at bay. When she decides to go away for a weekend, she needs someone to watch the house. Macy Mullins is down on her luck and applies for the job, and is hired. She’s given a VHS tape to watch that has instructions from David on what to do, such as make sure no lights are on from 3 to 4 am, no rabbits get in the house, make sure all the doors are locked, and never talk to the visitors at the door. Her first night becomes a nightmare, and the next two are not any better. She tries to follow all the rules and has to rely on letters to fix her mistakes. When she gets a shocking visitor, she is never expecting. This is a scary story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Just what is going on here, and will Macy survive the house is page-turning and will keep you reading along. This is the follow-up to the book We Used To Live Here, which is an excellent book, and I can only wonder what author Macus Kliewer will come up with next.
