Cory Pratt trains dogs for police activities and has two of his own, Alice and Rex, who are also trained to sniff out dead bodies. While at an elementary school for a talk, his dogs sniff something funny in the newly constructed cafeteria, and soon the missing body of a teenage boy, Patrick Shortridge, is found dead. Cory teams up with his cop sister, Crystal, to investigate the murder. They soon discover that his older brother committed suicide in college not too long ago. Then someone tries to take the younger sister, Charlotte, in the family, and the family goes into hiding. We follow along as twin brothers are revealed to be the killers, and who they’re working for, and it goes back a long way via flashbacks, we learn the whole sorted story. It leads to an attempt on Cory’s life and a climactic shootout. Another solid K-9 thriller with Cory and his dogs. The story is easy to read, and is another good novel in the series.
