After the events of the last book, Helgi, a police detective, has been mourning the death of his girlfriend, Anita, at the hands of his psycho ex-girlfriend, Bergpora, who wasn’t charged with the death. He is ready to return to work and eases in slowly. He decides to keep investigating the disappearance of his friend, Hulda, whom he worked with six months ago. When Bergpora is found dead in her bathtub, Helgi is the prime suspect, questioned and thrown in jail. He is soon released as the police continue their investigation, but everything leads back to Helgi. It leads to a shocking reveal as to what happened to her, and then an even more shocking ending to the novel, which will set up the next book in the series. This is another thrilling novel in the series. Author Jonasson has topped himself with this third novel in the series.
