Jules Capelthorn, who lives in London, is called by her mother to come back home, and makes it sound like her great-aunt Flo is dying she actually just had an accident and will live. When she gets there, the first person she sees when she gets off the train is Roman Montbeau, whom her family has had a feud with for hundreds of years. Jules ends up staying and helping Flo with her bookshop and is outraged when she sees that Roman has opened up a bookstore across the street from them. It’s a war between the two stores and the two of them. Things thaw between them after a while, and they even decide to have a summer fling and soon fall in love with each other. When Jules learns a shocking truth about the lease and land that Flo’s store is on, it ends things between the two of them, leaving them both brokenhearted. A battle of the bookstores in a small town, with fun supporting characters and an easy-to-read story. A perfect summer beach read.
