Piers Corbin is a Bane Witch, she just doesn’t know it yet. She led a sheltered life and never learned about the coven and what they do. They eat poisons and have marks, bad men that have to be taken care of, by one of the witches with just a kiss or saliva. Piers lives in Charleston, South Carolina, and is married to Henry, an abusive man, she decides it’s time to go, and fakes her own death, and heads north to her aunt’s place, in the mountains of New England, Along the way she kills a man who tried to rape her, and another man at the coffee shop, he was a bad man. Piers soons learns her powers and the rules, never tell anyone, never fall in love(which she does and tells him the truth). Her main goal is her mark, a serial killer that’s coming after her. It becomes a game of cat and mouse, and only one person will survive. This is an intense story right from the start. You get invested in the story and root for Piers and her Sheriff to be able to be together somehow. Fans of witches will enjoy the magical aspects of the novel.
