Martin Maxwell, 84, is recovering from getting a new hip at the Twilight Lodge, an upscale nursing home, in England. He is only here for a month, and when the residents start dying, he thinks something funny is going on. Three people have died in the last few weeks, all of natural causes, is what the people at the nursing home are saying. Martin, a former spy, thinks differently and enlists the help of Albie, who is in a wheelchair and a former nemesis, he begins investigating what is going on at the Lodge. He has a number of potential suspects, and for a man of 85, he is very clever and soon figures out what is really going on and finds his life in danger. This is a fun novel, with great characters in Martin and Albie, who share great chemistry together. The writing is crisp, with lots of LOL moments between the two. Fans of authors like Richard Osman and Deanna Rayborne will enjoy this one. The second novel in the series is due out next June.
