After the events of the first book FBI agent James Mason is a man on a mission. The thirteen has decimated his life. They killed his wife, turned his partner into a bad guy and still have a deadly lethal gas. But James is going away quietly. He’s teamed up with his close friends and is on the trail to find the members of the thirteen and wipe them out.
But more immanently someone is murdering people and is called the Scarecrow. It’s not known if this person is part of the thirteen or a random person. This person may have a deadly gas and seems to be targeting the Northeast. This is where Mason and his new partner are investigating. Until they are told to stand down by Homeland and Mason thinks they’re still moles in the government and he trust no one.
Small clues start to lead him to who this Scarecrow killer is and even though he was told to stand down, this is not stopping Mason and it’s a race against time once they figure out who the killer is. But this killer seems one step ahead of them and will Mason be able to stop something bad from happening before it’s too late?
I didn’t read the first book but author Michael Laurence gives good backstory in the novel. It’s a thrill-ride a minute. Nonstop action and twists and turns keep the reader engaged throughout.
