Twenty-five years ago, sisters Fiona and Violet Seng were on a small Cessna plane with their parents, on the way to Canada for a family vacation, when it crashed in the mountains of Washington state. The parents died, and they were left by themselves for twelve weeks until they were found. Today Fiona makes art, and Violet is back in school after substance abuse issues. The sisters are not close, and have never discussed what happened all those years ago with anyone. Now a documentary maker is making a movie about it, asks them to be a part of it, and when a woman comes forward claiming to have had an affair with their father all those years ago, they agree. As they recall their stories, things don’t add up, and we learn slowly via flashbacks what really happened back then. It means a return to the place where they crashed to try and find the one thing that can tell them what really happened. A twisty novel, that hooks you in early, and keeps you reading. With twists and turns you don’t see coming. Fans of psychological thrillers will like this one.
