Book Review: ‘Swamp Story: A Novel’ By Dave Barry

Jesse Braddock had money, a family and a life, until she met Slater, a hot man, who has dreams of being a star. They had a baby together, he spent all her money, and they moved to a small cabin in the Everglades. She’s thinking of just leaving at anytime, but she has no money to go. One day out walking, she finds a huge stash of gold bars in the Everglades water. She figures she has hit it big. Little does she know that two brothers, who are living here as well, have seen her with a gold bar, and want it for themselves. She also enlists her ex-boyfriend lawyer for advice, and he betrays her. When she goes to retrieve the gold, she has people on her tail, a large political rally going on, and a reported Melon Monster roaming the Glades and who gets the gold is up for grabs. This book is great, and only Dave Barry could have written. It’s a lot of fun, with LOL moments, and characters you root for. A perfect spring book.
