Book Review: ‘Survival Instincts: A Novel’ By Jen Waite

The past and the present collide in this new thriller from author Jen Waite.

A weekend away at a cabin in New Hampshire is what Anne thinks she needs with her daughter Thea and her mom Rose. Unknown to them a mysterious man is also headed there for reasons we learn later and what will be a relaxing weekend turns into hell. The man is waiting for them while they are hiking a trail and takes them hostage in a remote cabin. What he wants and what he plans we don’t know but the three women do everything they can to escape this madman.

Via flashbacks we learn about Anne’s life, the birth of her daughter Thea and what part Rose played in everything. By the end of the book all loose ends are tied up and we learn the fate of our three women and who this man is and why he has done what he has done.

With lots of twists and turns, this novel will keep you engaged in the story. I couldn’t put it down as it’s a real page-turner that you want to see where it leads to.
