A solid debut novel from author Kate Russo looks at one man who has to re-start his life after a divorce. It’s funny, clever and well-written and the reader roots for the lead character of Bennett Dricoll and his attempts to move on with his life.
Bennett is in 55 and his wife left him not too long ago after a long relationship for another man. He’s also a painter who had a good run early in his career but it has stalled out in recent years and he lost his representation. Since his wife was the main money maker in the last few years, he’s renting his big house out on Airbed and he’s so good at it he’s given Super Host status. Each time someone new stays at the house he learns a little bit more about himself and what he might want. When he meets a bartender and starts a relationship he learns things are really different these days in the world of dating. It also gets him going with his painting again and soon when he gets some shocking news, his life will re-start again.
You can pick up Super Host in stores on Tuesday, February 9th from Putnam.
