Stone Barrington’s law firm has just won a $32 million dollar judgment against Winston Petry and he isn’t happy. It’s the second time Stone has beaten him, and cost him a lot of money and he wants revenge. He calls his fixer to dig into Stone and come up with a plan. They decide to go after the artwork that Stone’s mother painted, which is dear to him. It leads to an art ring stealing paintings, setting fires, and collecting insurance payoffs. In Santa Fe, Stone meets Monica, his newest fling, and then they head to Los Angeles. Along the way he finds out three of his mother’s paintings may be available. As more paintings are being stolen, more fires are being set, Stone enlists Billy Barnett, aka Teddy Faye, and they team up to get to the bottom of this. Another solid novel featuring one of my favorite characters. Author Brett Battles first time writing one of these novels by himself and he has done a good job. I am sure Stuart Woods would be proud.
