Stone Barrington finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. A man is being beaten in the bathroom of the restaurant Stone is at and he steps in to help. Turns out the man was meeting Sara, the niece of Jack Coulter, who a lifetime ago was a bad guy and spent time in prison. He changed his name and is living a carefree life. Sara becomes a client of Stone’s and a man from her past is watching her and intends to try and get her back. Meanwhile, someone has spotted Jack and knows who he is and wants money from him for a job done many years ago. It leads to a blackmail scheme with local mobsters and Stone and Jack come up with a plan to try and turn the tables. This is another good Stone Barrington novel with visits to London and Martha’s Vineyard. Stone has another love interest and a new associate lawyer to train. There are more lol moments in this one, with Joan and Dino leading the way. Fans of the series will be happy with this one.
