The fifth novel in the series is another thrill ride of a novel. Alex Carter is a wildlife biologist and goes where she is needed to watch and observe animals. Her latest job has her on the beach in Hawaii observing the rare hawksbill turtles during egg-laying season. She tags and watches over the eggs, along with volunteers she hires, to keep away poachers, other animals, and to help the babies get to the ocean. With a hurricane approaching, she needs to move the eggs, when she runs off some poachers trying to steal some of the eggs. It leads her on a deadly trip where she runs up against the same poachers trying to steal a deadly virus from an ancient creature that was found buried on a dig. She needs to use everything she has learned in her life to survive this. Author Henderson has outdone herself with this latest adventure. Alex is not a character to be messed with and will do what she can to protect her animals. It’s also an education on how turtles lay their eggs and how to help the babies reach the sea.
