Frankie Elkin has a gift of solving cold cases, she lives out of her suitcase, traveling from town to town by bus, getting odd jobs for money, and doesn’t have an actual home. She gets a message from Kaylee Pierson, who is known as the Beautiful Butcher, for killing 18 men, feeding them to her pigs, and selling the pork. She’s on death row in Texas, and will be executed in 3 weeks. Furthermore, she wants Frankie to find her missing sister, Leilani, who she hasn’t seen in 12 years. She believes that she is with a billionaire named Sanders MacManus, who Kaylee once had a relationship with. He’s opening a resort on a private island in Hawaii, and Frankie will be a worker there, and find out what’s going on with the two of them. Things on the island are strange, with most people being friendly, but not everything or everyone is trustworthy. Soon, Frankie learns she may have been played, and things take a deadly, shocking turn on the island. I am a fan of the character of Frankie Elkin, enjoyed the first two novels in the series, but this one didn’t do as much for me. It’s still a good novel, just not as good as the first two in the series, with the second half of the novel intense, and action packed.
