Australian best selling author Ben Sanders is back with his latest novel The Stakes from Minotaur Books out Tuesday, March 6th. A New York cop who is moonlighting taking care of bad guys (illegally) and lining his pockets may have gotten in over his head on his latest robbery.

Miles Keller is currently on suspension due to killing a hitman named Jack Deen, who was after Lucy Gates (a former informant and ex lover of Miles) a few weeks ago. That isn’t stopping him from doing another job and making a lot of money. He intends to line his bank account and then take off and live the good live. The problem is the District Attorney’s office might be pressing charges against him. And now his past is caught up to him when Nina Stone (wife of a big time crime boss in Los Angeles) reappears after five years. He had tried to bust her before but charges didn’t stick. And on top of that Bobby Deen is in town looking for revenge for the death of his brother.

Soon their lives all collide and it becomes a game of cat and mouse between the four of them. Whoever blinks first could be the loser of their lives. With the police also closing in one thing is for sure, someone is going down.

A page turning story that has twists and turns right up to the finale will have you wanting to sneak a peak (but don’t) because that’s no fun!
