Charlie Show is married to Ryan, and they have a six-month-old little girl, Cassie, who is adorable and not sleeping through the night. He quit his job as a reporter and now makes a living as an Uber driver and a private investigator. He’s on his first job, with baby in tow, following a rich woman, who seems to be having an affair. The next time he follows her at night, and alone, he gets the proof he needs and a lot more. He meets Friday Finley, who is 16, and is searching for her missing father. He ends up helping her out, on his own, outside of his job, and letting her stay with his family. She reminds him of his late sister, who took her own life. As he works to track him down, he gets in with bad people, gets in fights, is arrested, has to move his family to safety and won’t give up until he finds the man and reunites him with his daughter. This novel is great. It is well-written, with sharp, witty dialogue and a fun story to follow along with. This is the debut novel from author Rob Phillips, and he is one to look out for if he keeps writing novels like this. I am not sure if this is a series or not I, for one, wouldn’t mind more adventures with these people.
