In a mythical, magical kingdom, a Queen is in labor with her first child and the King is hoping for a male heir to take over his kingdom one day. She delivers a girl, and then an evil sorceress shows up with a curse the girl will die when she turns 17. It turns out she has had a second baby that no one knows about, and she gives her first cursed girl to Sel, who was training to be a master of magic, and hopes that this will stop the curse from taking place. Sel and the baby, Briar, travel to various places when it seems danger might be on their heels. The Queen stays in her castle with her baby, never leaving the area for fear of the curse. As the years go on and Briar’s 17th birthday approaches, she learns the shocking truth of her birth, and takes off for the castle to meet her mother, not knowing about her secret sister. When the sorceress shows up to complete the curse, we learn the shocking secret of who she is, and it becomes a face-off between good and evil. This is a page-turning novel you will not want to put down. The story, the magic and climactic ending is off the charts. This is one not to be missed.
