The second book in the series finds rivals MacKenzie Cunningham and Jackson Jones, both private investigators, teaming up to start a business. They have a love/hate relationship and working together could find one of them killing the other. On this morning they both get invites that they can’t turn down to meet with gangster Big Ced and two of his rivals. It seems they are being blackmailed by a man who has information on all three and will turn it over to the police if they don’t pay, which they have for a long time. The man is in the hospital close to death and Mac and Jackson are hired, for a big payday, to find the evidence fast. As they start their investigation someone is also looking and seems to be one step ahead of them, and they find their lives in danger at every turn. Along the way, they spar with each other and have a sexual tension between them that is off the charts. This novel is great!!! The relationship between the two is fun to read and follow along with. The supporting cast including a hacker and office assistant adds more fun to this fun novel. One of the best of the summer. I can’t wait for more adventures with these two.
