Amos Walker is a PI who lives in Detroit, used to be a cop and now has cases here and there. He gets a call and a job from the Waterford Group, a law firm, to find the files of a client that was taken for safekeeping by a junior law clerk, Spencer Bennett, who was killed in a hit-and-run. They want one file in particular and when Amos goes and talks to Spencer’s roommate, he claims to not know where they are. When he is found dead and Amos finds the files except for the one he needed, it adds to the mystery, as more bodies add up. It leads to a shocking showdown with the person who has been doing the killings and Amos finds his life in great danger. This is my first time reading one of these books and it was great. Amos is a fun character, he’s gruff, a wise-ass and good at his job and he’s fun to read.
