Charlie Francisco was a screenwriter in Hollywood and married until he wasn’t. He moved back to London to work with his father, Jojo, a talent agent, who was very successful. He died suddenly and now Charlie is forced to run the company. Kate Elliott was married to Richard for twenty years and now getting a divorce. She was an actress, who was signed by Jojo years ago until she quit the business. Now she sends a letter to Jojo, not knowing he died and receives a call for an interview. Charlie needs someone to be a ghost author for a new romance novel, written by an author, who does not want to go public. Kate would pretend to be the author, have her picture on the book and do all the publicity for it. At first, everything goes smoothly. When it gets revealed Kate is a fraud, there’s mixed reactions. The book still sells great but Kate’s life is unended. Also, she and Charlie have fallen for each other, which further complicates things. They have to figure out where things stand moving forward. This is a well-written rom-com, with an interesting story and fun supporting characters. A perfect summer beach read.
