Rory Garrett gets drunk at a party, where her half-brother Garrett is, who is also the star QB for the Chicago Stars, and hooks up with Brett Rivers, who happens to be Garrett’s agent, and he thinks she’s a hooker, and leaves $500 on the dresser. When they meet up again at Garrett’s house, they find his ex-girlfriend dead, and decide to work together to try and figure out who murdered her, as Garrett has vanished. They have a snarking relationship going, especially when they learn who the other is, and there’s an attraction, and chocolate involved, as she wants to make chocolate (and she has interesting combinations). As they search for Garrett they get close, have hot sex, figure out maybe they’re not meant for each other, or maybe they are, and Rory finds her life in danger. This is the 10th novel in the series, first time I have read one, and this is a really well-written rom-com/murder mystery, with snappy, fun dialogue, and a good story. Fans will be happy with this one.
