There’s been a lot of celbrity bios lately and some are good and some are bad. What makes a good biography to me is the person writing it being honest about everything. Set The Night On Fire has everything I want and more. It’s a great, honest look at the life of Robby Krieger, who played guitar for The Doors. Nothing is off limit and every chapter is just compelling to read. It’s hard to review biographies because there real life stories and you don’t want to give any of the good stuff away as spoilers. The book talks about Robby from a youngster, wanting to learn guitar, even as he and his twin brothers loved to play golf. How he had supporting parents, how he got into The Doors and lots and lots of great stories about the band and Jim Morrison. So many Morrison stories about his drinking and drug issues, about the band and their hits and writing process and how he went on after the tragic death of Jim. If you’re a fan of The Doors or just music in general, this book has everything and more. You won’t be disappointed.

You can pick up Set The Night On Fire in stores on Tuesday, October 12th from Little Brown And Company.
