Book Review: ‘Seams Deadly: A Measure Twice Sewing Mystery’ By Maggie Bailey

Lydia Barnes has moved to the small town of Peridot, Georgia after finding her husband in bed with another woman. She’s working at a sewing store for her friend Fran, called Measure Twice, lives in an apartment about the store, with her dog, and soon to be new adopted cat. Fran thinks it’s time for Lydia to get out a little, so she sets her up for a dinner date with Brandon, who happens to live next door from her. Dinner is tense and short, and they walk back to their apartments and call it a night. A little while later Lydia decides to bring brownies to him, finds his door open, and him dead. She calls the police and is an immediate suspect of the killing. She soon finds others who did not like him, and other secrets this town has. Then she finds a second body, and again looks guilty. The killer doesn’t want her asking questions and figuring things out, and decides she must die as well, and her life is in grave danger. This is a good start to this new series. Small town mysteries are really good, and this one is enjoyable, and fun to read.
