The year is 1966 and in New York City author Jacqueline Susann has finished Valley Of The Dolls and turned it into her publisher. It’s a sexy, scandalous novel about a small town and the people that live there. The publisher wants a lot of changes and is worried about the graphic sex scenes, but Jacqueline stands firm, the book is published and sells over 16 million copies. Jackie Collins is in London, married to a man with mental health issues, raising a baby and trying to write her first book. It takes her a few years and her first novel, a very sexual one, is published, and she’s off to the start of her career. This is a novel about the two women and their lives up until the early 70s. A lot of it is based on real-life actions of the two, and other parts are fiction, but this novel is all heart. These are the women who started women’s fiction, became huge and never looked back. I love reading Jackie Collins novels, got to interview a few times, including right before she died. Fans of these two authors will love this book.
