Meghna lives in Dallas, and is a school teacher, who has a passion for writing. She gets an invitation to her best friend Seth’s wedding, they met in college, briefly dated, and she is still in love with him, and is asked to be the best man. Karthik lives in New York City, and is an engineer. They both are Indian, and their parents want them to get married, not to each other, just in general. His mother has been setting him up, and now he flies to Dallas to go on a date with Meghna. He tells her he is not looking for a relationship, or to ever get married, he’s seen how his parents has gone, and wants no part of it. He comes up with a plan to be fake-engaged to her for a few months to get their parents off their backs. She wants him to be her date for the wedding, and they have a few other get-togethers, well you know how this goes, they fall for each other, but neither wants to admit it, then a misunderstanding takes place, and this could be the end for them, or is it? A great rom-com to start the new year off with. It has two characters you root for and want to see together. This is author Kumar’s debut novel, and she’s off to a good start.
