Ten years ago, Delia, Zee and Cara, all 15 years old, went out on the water in the Pacific Northwest, to a small island to drink beer, and tan. On their way back, only two of them made it home alive. Zee’s body was ever found. Now ten years later, Delia gets an e-mail from Cara saying she needs to talk to her, they haven’t spoken in years. When Delia gets home to her mother’s and goes looking for Cara, she finds she has gone missing, from her brother Tom. Turns out she was working, and living at a women’s retreat, some may say cult, and Delia decides to go undercover to try and find out what happened to Cara. The longer she’s there, it seems she is falling under the spell of the place, and soon finds herself in danger. Asking too many questions can get you killed. She must figure out how to escape this place, and figure out what really happened to Cara. A solid, debut novel, full of twists and turns, that keeps you engaged throughout.
