Ten years ago, a man named David Webb was recruited into Treadstone, who would become Cain, aka Jason Bourne. We learn about his first mission, and the woman he loved named Monika. It involved a French radical political party that was planning on taking over. The mission went bad and Monika vanished, and Cain was on his own. Now today Jason gets a message from Vandal that someone has been asking about him from those days, Jason meets with the woman to find out what she wants. Her name is Johanna, Monika’s sister, and she wants to find her, and so do the bad guys. This has put Jason back in the spotlight, and Nash warns him to leave it alone. Jason will not give up, and there are many shootouts, betrayals, and shocking truths. Sometimes the past is better left alone. This is another great novel in the series, and we get a lot of new background on the Jason Bourne character, author Brian Freeman has once again written one of the best books of the summer. The Bourne books are something I look forward to every year.
