Book Review: ‘Robert Ludlum’s The Blackbriar Genesis: A Novel’ By Simon Gervais

First there was Treadstone and now there’s Blackbriar, a once dormant agency, now brought back to use against foreign intelligent operations. It’s lead by Oliver Manton, a former Treadstone agent, who was injured while protecting assistant secretary of state Edward Russell, in Cairo. Now Russell is director of national intellegant and he revives Blackbriar. They have a small number of agents on missions throughout the world. This novel centers on agents Helen Jouvert and Donovan Wade, who are in Cairo on a mission, which soon leads to Prague, to investigate the killing of a Treadstone agent and get involved with a group of Russians, who are working with Mexican cartels. It’s all thrilling action, with awesome shootouts, that make you feel like you are there. And the main characters are really well-written and bad-ass. Author Simon Gervais has done a great job kicking off this series. Fans of Ludlum books will be happy with this one.

You can pick up Robert Ludlum’s The Blackbriar Genesis in stores on Tuesday, October 18th from Putnam.
