It’s winter in Boston and right now Spenser has no cases on his plate. When he gets word that longtime friend Rita Flore has been shot, he and Hawk are on the case, trying to find out who shot her and why. It leads to a variety of potential suspects, some who end up dead, missing or shot at as well. Someone even tries to take Spenser out, which means he’s getting close to figuring this out. With help from Vinny, Jesse Stone and Hawk, Spenser is determined at all costs to get to the bottom of what is going on. This is another great novel is the series and Mike Lupica has full command of writing this series. The bromance between Spenser and Hawk is one of my favorite parts of these novels and Mike is spot on writing these two. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
