Agnes Corey has her dream job, working in publishing at Gatehouse Books in New York. The company’s biggest book was by author Veronica St. Clair, The Secret Of Wyldcliffe Heights in 1990, she has written anything since then, even with fans wanting a sequel. With Gatehouse in a financial bind, Agnes writes to Veronica and asks her for a sequel (even though she shouldn’t have) and is surprised to learn that she wants Agnes to come live with her as her assistant as she writes the book. It means moving to Wyldclliffe, a former asylum, now a mansion. Veronica, who has gone blind after a fire years ago, dictates the novel to her, and soon learns about real-life events that made up the first novel, and soon it links with her own life. It starts to make Agnes a little crazy, and she must figure out what all this means in terms of her own life. A gothic tale, with a creepy setting and twists that make this an intense novel. Fans of this genre will enjoy this one.
