Charlie Harris is working at the Athena College library part-time, along with Melba and Tara Martin, along with her cat Diesel. Tara is an oddball woman, but a good worker, who also works at the bistro, which Charlie’s finance owns. Tara is on edge a lot, she obviously has some issues, and then she’s found in the street, a victim of a hit-and-run, and soon dies. The police are investigating, as is Charlie, who has a knack for this kind of thing, and he finds some interesting evidence and starts to put the pieces together, along with his trusty side-kick Diesel. This is the sixteenth novel in this series, my first time reading one, and I really enjoyed it. I like these small-town murder mysteries, with interesting, quirky characters, and fun animals. Fans of the series will be happy with this one.
