Joe Ledger is mourning the loss of his family when an old nemesis, Nicodemus, shows up out of the blue, and Joe finds himself fighting for his life. Soon Joe learns that his old enemy, the Red Empire, is back, and a new deadly plague is being unleashed. Joe and Rogue team are sent to London, where one of their own has died. The plague is spreading fast, and Joe and his team, along with the best doctors, are looking to stop the spread and find a cure quickly. It leads to a deadly battle with multiple different forces fighting each other, and Mr. Church finds his life and legacy in danger, and who lives and dies during this battle. This book starts off fast and never lets up. It seems almost like a resetting of the series with so much loss taking place. The action is fast and furious, and you do not want to put this one down. Author Jonathan Maberry has once again topped himself with this latest in the series.
