Lydia Barnes lives in Peridot, Georgia, and owns Measure Twice, a fabric store, she bought from Fran, who she thinks of as a sort of Grandmother. Business is not that good and she offers a weekend retreat at Fran’s mountain home, for sewing/craft weekend. The group of women, and one man, each have unique personalities, so it should be an interesting weekend. When handyman Auden Williams is called to help fix the disposal, he informs them a storm is coming and they need to get the house ready. When Lydia goes looking for Fran, she finds her dead, she’s been murdered. With no phones, and no electricity, they are hunkered down, one of them a murderer, and then a second body is found. Lydia is investigating, learning shocking secrets, and she sets herself up for the killer, with a dangerous plan. This is the second novel in this series, and it’s a fun one. The whole set-up, the unique characters, and the murder mystery are smart and enjoyable to read.
