Prudence Marsh has decided to leave the small town where she lives to go to audition for the upcoming royal wedding in hopes of making a name for herself. She plays the violin, tells stories, and sings, and is quite good. On the way, she meets up with Callum, who robs her of her money, and is with his friend Vale, and as they are robbing a stagecoach, she runs into him again. As she tries to help, she is assumed to be part of the group and has to make a run for it, and her violin is smashed up. She decides to stay with him until he buys her a new violin, and they leave, not wanting to be part of his crew that robs people. He has a big plan to rob the Queen of her jewels during the wedding, and Pru ends up deciding to help them. She and Callum have fallen for each other. The night of the wedding, the robbery takes place, but doesn’t go as it should, and Pru might be the only one to save everyone, even after she learns a shocking secret. This is a follow-up to last year’s first novel in the series, and it’s another good one. The main characters and the supporting characters are a hoot, especially Bartleby the plant, who is a human under a curse for seven years now. It’s part rom-com and all heart. A good holiday book to read.
