The year was 1997 and Amber Glass went to prom with Joe Simpson, just as friends, even though they have been having sex regularly. On the night of the prom, in her hotel room, she gave birth to a baby, and it died, and she was accused of killing it. She was dubbed Prom Mom, and is put in jail for manslaughter. Joe moved on with his life and married Meredith. Now years later, Amber has returned to town, and opened an art gallery. When Joe sees she is back in town, and he walks into the gallery, their lives will never be the same. As covid hits, Joe and Amber start an affair, Joe is in debt with his business, and also has another lover, who will not let him go. When Joe asks Amber for help, they come up with a devious plan, one that may not be what Joe thinks it will be. Shocking twists you don’t see coming highlight yet another good novel from author Laura Lippman, who never disappoints. Fans of hers will love this one.

You can pick up Prom Mom in stores on Tuesday, July 25th from William Morrow.
