Former spy and current art restorer Gabriel Allon is happy living in Venice with his wife and twins. But then he is asked for help form Julian Isherwood, a london art dealer and it takes Gabriel to France, Italy and the United States. He has discovered a series of forged paintings, which results in a series of deaths and where things are not as they seem. It all goes back to a 16th century painter named Sir Anthony van Dyck and a series of fakes. And now someone doesn’t want Gabriel to keep answering questions. In order to find out the truth about what’s going on, Gabriel has come up with the ultimate plan to solve this case, even if his life is in danger. The 22nd novel in the series is another spell-binding thriller, well-written and entertaining. If you’re a fan of the series, this will not disappoint.
