A year ago, Pomona Afton solved a murder after almost being killed. She has her inheritance and is living with Gabe, her boyfriend, who is a teacher. She has opened a nonprofit and is having her first gala to raise money for it. Anyone who is anyone has been invited, and that includes some shady people, and people who don’t like each other, and even her obnoxious parents, who decide to just show up. In the middle of the party, Conrad, who is rich and a jerk, and is also a donor to her foundation, falls from a second story and dies, and it’s murder. So once again, Pomona and Gabe team up to investigate the murder, and it may be someone close to her. When she figures out who did it, her life is once again in danger. The book also expands on her personal life, her relationship with Gabe, and her family. This is a great follow-up to the first book in the series.
