Pomona Afton is part of the rich, powerful Afton family, who owns a string of hotels, led by her Grandmother, who controls everything and is a mean person. She lives in one of the hotels, along with her parents a floor above, and her Grandmother in the penthouse. When she goes to visit her, after urgent calls that she must talk to Pom (her nickname), she’s found stabbed to death by her. Then shocking news from her will, she thought someone was going to murder her, and has frozen all assets, and kicked the family out of the hotel and it will only be released if the case is solved within the year. Pom ends up moving into a small apartment with the handsome Gabe, son of her former nanny. They don’t hit it off at first, but soon he gets her a job at the coffee house he works at, and convinces her to solve the murder of her grandmother, so she can get her money, and he will help. She starts to investigate, she and Gabe start to fall for each other, and she thinks she knows who the murderer is, and has come up with a plan to try and trap the person. This is a fun rom-com murder mystery, with a good lead character in Pom, who’s determined to find the killer. Fans of these novels will enjoy this one.
