Lexi McNeil has wanted a baby for years and hasn’t been able to stay pregnant. Her best friend, Mara, who she has known since high school, has agreed to be a surrogate for her. She is living in the cottage behind the main house that Lexi lives in. With three days to go until the birth, Mara vanishes. When the police are no help, Lexi investigates on her own and finds that Mara has fled back to Philadelphia. When she gets there, she finds out all sorts of shocking things about Mara; she is wanted by the police, she used to be a stripper, she was involved with drugs, and she hung around with shady people. Lexi hits seedy strip clubs, shady places, and meets some kind people who Mara once lived with. It leads to a shocking reveal, and the fate of the baby is in Lexi’s hands. This is an intense pyschological thriller that you will not want to put down. This one is a winner.
