Melody Howard has just moved to town, with her husband and a little girl who is now going to the academy, from Kansas. Charlotte is running to be PTA president and should win easily. Melody becomes friends with Darcy and is encouraged to run to be president as well, which she decides to do. It becomes a fierce battler, Melody is becoming one of these Miami Beach ladies, much to the dismay of her husband. There’s mud flung, a shocking arrest of a big-time rich donor, claims of impropriety and a shocking death. The novel is told by different characters in each chapter, which enhances the story.
