In Seattle, artist Meg Bloomberg finds a note from her husband, on the back of a Home Depot receipt, that their marriage is over. Her best friend, Annie, decides that pickleball will help Meg start to heal. Months later on a ferry, Meg meets the handsome Ethan Fine, they spend time together, and she enjoys it, not thinking she will see him again. Then she finds out that his company is hired to turn their pickleball courts into a nature reserve. A tournament is being held, with a $10,000 cash prize, money her league could use to build new courts, and Meg soon finds out Ethan is playing in the tournament, and they spare on and off the court and wonders if she can truly have a relationship with him, after they have been hanging out on a several occasions. A fun setting on the court, with vivid descriptions on how the game is played, enhancew this romantic comedy. With a fun supporting cast of characters, this is a good debut novel from author Ilana Long, who does not double fault at all.
